Since January 2013, Terre des hommes Lausanne has been active in the Macina health district (Ségou region) with preventive and curative interventions aimed at reducing maternal, neonatal, and infant mortality. The Macina district covers 20 CSCom; the population’s main activities are agriculture, fishing, and livestock farming. This “SQUEAC follow-up” survey, conducted one year after the first, made it possible to analyze changes in barriers, assess the impact of the activities implemented, and estimate the program’s coverage. It was conducted by Tdh’s health coordination team with financial and technical (remote) support from CMN.
The survey was conducted from December 9 to 20, 2015. The program’s current coverage was estimated at 38.2% (27.8%–49.9%). Although this rate is slightly higher than that of 2014 [34.4% (25.2%– 44.9%)], is still below the SPHERE standard for rural areas (50%) and reveals the persistence of numerous barriers to access and participation in the PCIMA program.
