SQUEAC Report, Kandahar Region (Kandahar City, Damaan and Speen Boldak Districts), (Save the Children)

Save the Children international in Afghanistan mission with support from ACF international conducted a SQUEAC assessment in Kandahar province, Afghanistan from 10th to 31st May 2015. SCI has been implementing an ECHO funded project in parts of Kandahar city, Daaman and Spin boldak districts targeting the IDP population in the areas. The program , which includes treatment and prevention services including the treatment and prevention of malnutrition was set up to serve the IDP population which usually settled in far places where they cannot be reached by the already existing BPHS program. Due to insecurity’s effects of experienced in the province and the neighboring province of Helmand, the IDP numbers are usually unpredictable with the numbers increasing or decreasing based on the security situation. The IDPs integrate with the host community in some identified areas in Kandahar province. Therefore, the assessment was intended to assess the performance of the program as well as identifying the boosters and barriers to the coverage of the program in such areas. With the program entering in its second phase of implementation, viable recommendations were required as part of the objectives to improve programing. With the use of the Bayesian technique and using single estimate estimator, the study identified coverage of 48.6% (41.3% – 55.8%)
