The coverage assessment was conducted between 12th October to 23rd October 2015 for stage 1 and 2 and from 28th October to 2nd November 2015 for stage 3. From the Bayesian coverage calculator, the posterior ‘point coverage’ for OTP in East Pokot was estimated at 45.7% and ‘single coverage’ for Marigat and Mogotio was 39.4% and 52.5% respectively. ‘Single coverage’ for SFP in East Pokot, Marigat and Mogotio was 48.5%, 32.1% and 29.5% respectively. Both OTP and SFP estimate coverage were found to be below the recommended SPHERE standard of 50% in rural areas and thus considered unsatisfactory apart from Mogotio OTP that was at slightly above (52.5%) the sphere standards thus considered good.

The major barriers across the sub counties to both the SAM and MAM coverage were Long distance, Mothers work load, poor child spacing, Poor Documentation, Understaffing, Alcoholism, Migration, inadequate capacity of Health workers and inactive CHWs. In Marigat, scaling down of outreach sites and insecurity that led to closure of health facilities was also a key barrier.
