COOPI has been working in the Douentza health district since 2015; this project was carried out in two phases. The first ran from January 2015 to October 2015 and the second from March 2016 to June 2016. Both phases were funded by UNICEF. These projects covered the entire health district, comprising 20 Community Health Centres (CSCom) and one Referral Health Centre (CSRef). This SQUEAC survey made it possible to assess the programme’s impact, as well as the remaining barriers and challenges. It also enabled the proposal of an action plan to improve coverage in the district. The current single-visit coverage rate is 38.6% (CI: 30%–47.9%). Although this rate is relatively low compared with the SPHERE threshold of 50 per cent recommended for rural programmes, it is nevertheless well above the national average of 22.3 per cent (CI: 16.7 per cent – 27.6 per cent) and that of Mopti, which stands at 12.8 per cent (CI: 7.1 per cent, 18.8 per cent)
