SQUEAC Report, Bafoulabé District, Mali, August 2017
A SQUEAC survey to estimate coverage at the start and end of the study was planned in each of the health districts within the study area and the control area. This SQUEAC survey, carried out in the Bafoulabe health district from 31 July to 18 August 2017, forms part of this context. It provided an opportunity to deliver practical training on the SQUEAC methodology to ACF staff and an official from the Bafoulabe health district.

The evaluation followed the three main stages of the methodology, and the principles of comprehensiveness and triangulation were applied throughout the process of collecting and analysing data (both qualitative and quantitative), as well as during the case study phase. The derivation of the prior probability (belief in coverage), combined with the results of the district-wide survey (plausible evidence – probable coverage), enabled the coverage estimate to be determined through analysis using the Bayes calculator (Bayes SQUEAC). The overall coverage of the PCIMA programme is estimated at: 20.4% [12.9%–30.8%], z=0.37, p=0.7109.
