SQUEAC coverage nutrition survey report, Koro Health District, January 2017
This SQUEAC survey was carried out in the Koro District; Mopti Region in the Republic of MALI. The Koro District is bordered by the districts of Bankass, Bandiagara and Douentza, as well as by Burkina Faso. The survey took place during the dry season, when Fulani and young people from Koro migrate to other destinations such as Bamako or Burkina Faso. The Koro District is a rural area with a predominantly agricultural population (80 per cent); the pastoralist population consists of Fulani, who account for approximately 15 per cent. The general population is stable despite the cyclical nomadism of pastoralist communities and young people.

The SQUEAC assessment was carried out between 1 January and 5 February 2017, comprising 16 days of fieldwork. The results of this SQUEAC assessment yield an estimate of current coverage of 45.2% [95% CI: 36.0% – 54.8%] for ACTED’s PCIMA programme in the Koro District. This rate is very close to the 50 per cent threshold recommended by the SPHERE standards for PCIMA programmes operating in rural district sub-districts.
