SLEAC Report, Northern Regions and Boucle du Mouhoun, 2015

The SLEAC survey was conducted to provide a classification of service coverage under the PCIMA program. The level of representation is the health district. The survey covered six health districts—three per health region—namely: Boucle du Mouhoun and the North. Thus, 180 villages were surveyed, falling under 133 health centers (CSPS). In accordance with the survey methodology, active case finding (ACF) conducted in the villages identified 679 children, including 312 cases of acute malnutrition (MAS) and 367 children on the road to recovery. Among the cases of SAM, 41% (129) were not covered by the program, and 7 children presented with edema, including 5 in the Boucle du Mouhoun region. The districts in the Boucle du Mouhoun region had the highest and lowest numbers of identified target children (max = 141 cases in Tougan and min = 90 in Dédougou). The median age of the identified children was 14 months.

Current coverage was assessed for 4 districts (Titao, Séguénéga, Dédougou, and Toma), and the other 2 districts (Ouahigouya and Tougan) were classified based on coverage over the period. Thus, taking into account the classification thresholds, the six districts showed a coverage classification of 50% on average (Titao, Dédougou, and Toma) and high (Séguénéga, Ouahigouya, and Tougan).
