Adaptations in the management of child wasting in the context of COVID-19

Action Against Hunger USA, in alignment with the Ministry of Health and the World Food Programme
(WFP), implemented adaptations to its nutrition programs in Uganda aimed at minimizing the risk of COVID 19 transmission while continuing services for the management of child wasting. In addition to infection prevention and control (IPC) measures, these adaptations included:
1.Modified admission and discharge criteria in integrated management of acute malnutrition (IMAM)
programs;
2.Modified frequency of follow-up appointments during acute malnutrition treatment; and
3. Scale-up of Family MUAC.
