Since July 2012, the CRB and the CRM have been implementing a program to strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders in the management of acute malnutrition in Mali (Kayes Region , DRS, and the Nioro Health District) and cover the 24 CSCOMs and the URENI in the Nioro Health District.

The current coverage rate is 37.4% (26.7%–49.4%). Although this rate is below the SPHERE standard of 50% in rural areas, it is above the national average 22.3% (16.7%–27.6%) and above the Kayes Region average of 24.5% (95% CI = 18.1%, 30.6%). This investigation is the first of its kind conducted in the district and has made it possible to identify barriers to access and participation in the program and to develop an action plan to improve access to care.
