SQUEAC Report, Adjumani District, September 2015

There are currently100,684 (updated 16th September 2015)1refugees from South Sudan settled in the Adjumani district in West Nile Sub-Region, Northern Uganda. In response to the emergency and to alarming levels of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) reported in nutrition surveys2, Supplementary Feeding Programmes (SFP) and Outpatient Therapeutic Centre (OTC) programmes have been scaled up. The World Food Programme (WFP) has funded Medical Teams International (MTI) to implement the SFP programme (at 9 sites) and the OTC (at four sites). Action Contre La Faim Uganda (ACF-UG) is the implementing partner in four OTC sites, and Concern Worldwide is the implementing partner in the remaining OTC sites across the district (those addressing both refugee and host needs) and in Inpatient Therapeutic Care (ITC) sites.

A Semi-Quantitative Evaluation of Access and Coverage (SQUEAC) assessment was carried out to assess coverage of the SFP and OTC programmes in the refugee catchment area, to identify factors affecting coverage and to develop specific recommendations, based on the assessment outcomes to improve access to and coverage of the programme. An additional objective was to build capacity of district health teams and key nutrition partners on the SQUEAC methodology.
