SQUEAC Report, Mosango Health Zone, Bandundu Province, ACF, 2015

The Mosango Health Sub-zone is located in the Masimanimba territory, Kwilu Health District, in the Province of Bandundu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It covers an area of 3,350 km² with a population estimated at 117,896, representing an average density of 35 people per km².

Since July 2013, an integrated nutrition, food security, and livelihoods (SAME) project has been implemented in the zone by ACF. Nutritional support in the Mosango health zone consists of integrating PCIMA into 16 health centers (CS) and 2 hospitals—covering all health areas—as well as training community workers in screening activities, Health and Nutrition Education (EPSN), and home visits (VAD), as well as training for healthcare providers in the Outpatient and Intensive Therapeutic Nutrition Units (UNTA and UNTI) on clinical management (PEC) and infant and young child feeding (ANJE). The program also supports the procurement and transportation of nutritional and medical supplies. Finally, financial support in the form of a funding allocation is provided to the Health Zone (ZS) to ensure the smooth operation of the activities of the Central Office of the Health Zone (BCZ) and the integration of PCIMA at the General Referral Hospital (HGR) and Community Health Centers (CS).
