SQUEAC Report, Assaba Region, Départements de Kiffa et Barkéol

The TDH-IT project provides technical support to the DRAS in the implementation of the PCIMA programme in the Assaba region. This technical support is being delivered at 23 CRENAs in the CS/PS centres in Kiffa and 18 CRENAs in the health centres and outposts (CS/PS) in Barkéol, and the two CRENI centres in Kiffa and Barkéol, in the roll-out of the PCIMA programme at health facility level. The project also provides community support in partnership with five local NGOs in the establishment and supervision of community relays (RCs); this covers 101 and 134 RCs in the villages of Kiffa and Barkéol respectively.

The overall objective of the SQUEAC was to assess coverage and barriers to access to integrated nutrition centres within health centres and health posts (CS/PS) in the Assaba region, in the departments of Kiffa and Barkéol using the SQUEAC methodology, the FANTA 2012 methodology. The SQUEAC survey was carried out between 12 January and 4 February 2016, alongside an integrated community-based study³, in the rural Assaba region – a typically sedentary and pastoralist setting.

The survey deployed six teams of two to three people who worked as data collectors (enumerators), under the supervision of three TDH-IT supervisors responsible for carrying out the fieldwork. A CMN consultant was recruited by TDH-IT to manage the survey and the community-based study, from planning and data collection through to the drafting of the final report.
