CMN (Coverage Monitoring Network) is an inter-agency project led by Action Against Hunger (ACF), International Medical Corps (IMC), Concern Worldwide and Helen Keller International (HKI). It was launched in July 2012 with the support of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) and the USAID’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA). The CMN project aims to increase and improve the coverage of community-based treatment programmes for acute malnutrition (CBT) by promoting tools for assessing coverage, strengthening
capacities and sharing information.Following the success of Phase I, the CMN entered its second phase in June 2014, with a particular focus on identifying best practices to improve coverage. Ultimately, the CMN is committed to publishing and sharing these results and developing practical tools to overcome barriers to access to CMC programmes.

In Niger, the CMN has directly and indirectly supported four organisations in carrying out coverage assessments using the SLEAC or SQUEAC methodologies, notably ACF in the districts of Keita and Mayahi; the French Red Cross in the districts of Tanout and Agadez; IRC in the districts of Ouallam and Filingué; and Coopi in the district of Tillaberi. Following these assessments, specific action plans were developed with a view to ensuring an improvement in coverage.

The aim of this workshop was to take stock of these activities, including the CMN’s activities in other priority countries, and to share with all partners the tools developed to facilitate the implementation and monitoring of coverage surveys. The workshop also enabled the various partners to deepen their understanding of the methodologies available and to lay the foundations for their respective activities during 2016, with a view to improving access to PCMA services in Niger.
